Anthem Awards: Amplio Honored For Responsible Technology - Community Outreach

Updated: Jan 31, 2022

Seattle, WA - January 25, 2022 - Amplio has been named a finalist in the "Best Responsible Technology - Community Outreach" category for the inaugural Anthem Awards. An initiative of the Webby Awards, the Anthem Awards honors the mission-driven work of people, companies, and organizations worldwide. The competition received nearly 2,500 entries from 36 countries worldwide.

Specifically, Amplio was selected for our COVID-19 awareness campaign. In April 2020, Amplio partnered with UNICEF and Ghana Health Service on a rapid response in eight vulnerable districts in the Upper West Region. Led by Amplio Ghana, community health nurses and volunteers used the Amplio Talking Book to deliver consistent and accurate health messages on COVID-19 symptoms, risk, treatments, and prevention.

In 2021, our team deployed new messages to promote vaccine uptake and knowledge about cerebral spinal meningitis (CSM), which is also a health risk in the region.

The campaign reached over 218,000 people.

In Ghana, the Amplio Talking Book was used to share accurate COVID-19 information.

“Amplio has set the standard for excellence for impact,” said Jessica Lauretti, Managing Director, The Anthem Awards. “This is a huge honor and accomplishment. The Anthem Awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), a diverse group of social impact leaders and experts who are all working to rebuild our world. Finalists represent best-in-class work that the academy scored the highest."

The Anthem Awards were created to highlight and amplify the most impactful, important, and inspiring work across seven core areas: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion; Education, Art, & Culture; Health; Human & Civil Rights; Humanitarian Action & Services; Responsible Technology; and Sustainability, Environment, & Climate.

The finalists were selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, with judges including Daniel Dae Kim, Ashley Judd, Oprah Winfrey Charitable Foundation director of philanthropy, Shayla Tait, and Mozilla CEO and chairman Mitchell Baker. Winners will be announced on February 15 at a virtual conference, which will be followed by a virtual awards ceremony on February 28.

P.S. Amplio is in good company. Notably, The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, and Nikole Hannah-Jones' 1619 Project are also among the finalists. Our category is listed here. You will be able to watch the event on-demand at www.anthemawards.com.
